Frilly, girly skirts and dresses were well-represented on the catwalk in the Spring/Summer 09 shows. A couple of my favourite examples below come from Anna Sui (above), and Marc by Marc Jacobs (below).

Throw a winter coat on over your favourite dress for an instantly wonderful outfit. Not only will the coat keep the cold out, but a simple design will help tone down any outrageous frills or ruffles and stop you looking as though you're heading for a four-year old's birthday party. (Unless, of course, that's a look you're going for; it's one I'm quite partial to myself!)
